The SFA are adamant that this season’s Scottish Cup will be completed.

Outwith the top two divisions of the SPFL all football in Scotland is currently suspended calling a halt to the Scottish Cup with 12 Second Round ties still to be completed. Last weekend Celtic were scheduled to play Arbroath or Falkirk in the Third Round but rearranged a postponed match with St Mirren for that date.

The Fourth Round (last 16) was scheduled for February 20/21 but the SPFL has brought forward fixtures from April to be played over that weekend.

With the final scheduled for Hampden on the second weekend in May time is getting tight to get through the competition with the SPFL having to get reschedule fixtures from League One and League two with more than half of the matches still to be played plus end of season Play Offs.

An SFA Spokesperson told The Sun:

Discussions are ongoing to ensure the displaced Scottish Cup fixture rounds are rescheduled at the appropriate time. Obviously the suspension of football outwith the Premiership and Championship has impacted on the original calendar but we are committed to Scotland’s premier cup competition being completed when it is safe to do so, mindful of the current Scottish government restrictions.

This season no sponsor has wanted their brand associated with the SFA but they have managed to secure broadcasting deals with BBC Scotland and Premier Sports.
