Richard Foster has explained that his competitive nature was responsible for his decision to confront an angry fan at Ayr United last week.

The former Rangers and Aberdeen defender is in his second season with Partick Thistle as he develops his media career which is mainly through BBC Scotland.

Seeing one of your own players regularly sharing their opinion and fondness for another club in the city isn’t a good look for Thistle fans with Foster recalled to the side at Ayr last Friday.

Trailing 2-0 at half-time to Ayr things spilled over at the interval as the Thistle players went through the terrace to the temporary dressing room.

The video of Foster with the fan has been deleted from Twitter

Listening in to Foster on PLZ Soocer, the Daily Record reports Foster saying:

It was stupid if me to react, because that’s exactly what they were doing; trying to get one of us to react. Some of the stuff and not just directed at me, but the whole team, was outrageous. Stuff you’d get arrested or battered for in the street.

I heard a couple of things and thought: ‘I’m not taking that from a Partick Thistle fan’. It was stupid from me to react but some of the stuff was ridiculous. I don’t even know why you would think: ‘I’m going to say that to one of my own players.’

Then they expect me to come out for the second half and be like: ‘Aw great, I can’t wait for the second half and really try and play well now!’

It’s just a strange, strange mindset but first and foremost, I shouldn’t have reacted, but people tend to know that I’m so passionate when I’m playing and when I’m getting beat, I’m not happy and I react probably more easily than I do when I’m winning.

Foster was an unused substitute last night as Thistle lost at home to Inverness Caley Thistle in the first leg of their Premiership play-off tie

Hun fanny Foster lives in the shadow of his famous C list celeb wife who had one hit.

He lost his balls years ago and the plastic hardman haud me back act is a pathetic over compensation strategy for his caponisation.

Mah wife wears the troosers and it makes me angry and sad. BooHoo! Grrrr!

Bit convenient he’s accusing fans of being sectarian a few days after a Celtic v Rangers* game where there was trouble with ‘ Rangers wags being injured ‘ and statements about hate crimes being all over the media

Maybe the Thistle fans just know he’s a bang average player who would be better off working on his game instead of popping up everywhere cheerleading his old club and they told him this in no uncertain terms

  • Scud Missile says:

What a total hypocrite he say’s he ain’t taking that abuse or stick from Thistle fans does that mean he would have accepted it from supporters at Ibrox, bully boy tactics because he would never had entered the crowd in the stand if it was Rangers supporters dishing out abuse at him.

Surely the club will have passed on any evidence to Glasgows Constabulary. Surely the person/s responsible are easily identifiable. Can’t wait to see the follow up.
