The latest episode of VAR TV turned up at Paisley this afternoon as Andrew Dallas and David Dickinson dominated the headlines.
Last week at Hampden Nick Walsh and John Beaton got through the Viaplay Cup Final without a hint of controversy but VAR was in the spotlight from the third minute of today’s match.
Right in front of referee Dickinson, Alex Grieve flicked the ball at Greg Taylor’s arm from less than a yard away, play continued for about three minutes before Dickinson was instructed to look at the monitor before the inevitable penalty was awarded and scored.
Seven minutes from the break Charles Dunne was short with a pass-back, panicked and dragged at Kyogo Furuhashi. The initial contact was outside the box, the Celtic striker resisted it but Dunne made sure by pulling him down inside the 18 yard line.
It was a red card either way, Dickinson and his assistant agreed that it was also a penalty but without reviewing it for himself the referee took Dallas’ word that the foul had been committed outside of the penalty box with Celtic given a free kick.
Despite those two hold ups, three lost minutes between the Taylor handball and play restarting, only four minutes were added at the end of the first half.
Dallas no longer referees matches but seems to be on VAR duty for every round of fixtures.
‘The application has been truly awful’

The Daily Record reported:
Former Hoops man Walker was fuming with VAR’s role in the game, telling Sky: “VAR can work but we have had the most absurd application of VAR.
“I was welcoming it at the start of the season and went to the presentation at the start of the season. It was very slick and professional but the application has been truly awful.”
But Boyd was having none of it, and after the pair also had disagreements at half-time, the Rangers hero rounded off with: “Andy’s not pleased with it! I don’t think it has got one decision wrong, Andrew Dallas has done really well today.”
Boyd is a prize pwic…so pwedictable in his analysis-x wanger halfwit.
Like watching THE most annoying teenager and how he gets any airplay is baffling!!
Sarcasm is all that Boyd has left now,he knows the league has gone so he will continue to gloat at every dodgy decision at us thinking that’s only way to get back at us,the fact he said every VAR decision has been correct,he knows that’s wrong but it’s all he has to clutch on to now.
