Obsessed Guardian reporter snipes at relentless and outstanding Celtic

Ewan Murray seems unable to look the other way as Celtic push on towards another SPFL Premiership title.

After a lacklustre first half away to St Mirren Ange Postecoglou’s side scored five second half goals as they demonstrated the resolve on champions to restore their nine point lead at the top of the SPFL table.

Murray is a lifelong Hearts fan but earns his living describing the action on the fairways and bunkers for Guardian readers. Rather than get some research in for next month’s Masters his attention at lunchtime was drawn to Celtic.

It certainly wasn’t against Champions League opponents but the way that Celtic broke down a packed defence to score five times deserves some praise.

St Mirren have only lost once at home this season, back in September they became the only Scottish team to beat Celtic this season.

Murray isn’t required to join the happy clappers showering Celtic with praise but if the success of one club causes so much concern he really should stick to sharing his knowledge of golf with Guardian readers and his Twitter followers.

It is the most consistent team that wins the League Championship Title in any League. It’s nothing to do with how much money your Club or any Club spends in the course of the year.
Yes, Micky Beale is right. He and Them are up against it all right. But it not anyone else’s fault! Just their own!
A new week, a new headline, a new story and a new theory from Micky Beale, no doubt!?

  • Johnny says:

Is this guy the same Ewen Murray who commentates on the golf on Sky?

Editor: No, this one just types for the Guardian between letting Celtic dominate his footballing interest.

  • Don says:

If you look at the list fifa released for last year outlining the wage bills of teams in the Champions league, the Huns had a higher wage bill than Celtic.
Yet still they only beat these minnows with last minute goals, usually via a contentious penalty. So yeah there is that.

  • John says:

You never heard these clowns talking about money when ‘Moneybags Murray’ was helping them cheat for a decade. Building up debt that he then hid in Murray Internation Metals debt mountain before passing it on to the tax payer and this fraud and cheat is a Knight of their Realm. It was all genius then not cheating. No questions asked. Ewan Murray supports Rangers Lite and Rangers. Complete raging, fuming Bigot. Great to watch his anguish. a ‘golf club Hun’ who thinks he is not a bigot because he is Middle Class. Edinburgh is full of them. As bad as Ayrshire knuckle draggers.

  • Forbes Brown-Brogue says:

In an alternative universe, Ange responded “well to be honest mate, it was a complete cakewalk today. St Mirrens team cost a mere fraction of mine and couldn’t live with us when they still had 11 men on the park, so I don’t really see slaughtering such a bunch of useless diddies as that much of an achievement, in fact we won 5-1 barely getting out of second gear.”
Yoon Murray was then full of praise for Mr Postecoglou’s perceptive assessment of the game.
Oh wait. No. He’d criticise him for saying anything wouldn’t he? Which rather suggests the problem doesn’t lie with Celtic or Ange Postecoglou, doesn’t it?

  • Tommy McQuillan says:

He’s not the golf Ewan Murray he’s a totally different guy also called Ewan Murray.

  • Ozzy Mick says:

See Ange’s raging response to this, threatening Greek Mafia retaliation if Ewan ever plays golf in Australia?
No? That’s because l made that up. No much better than the blubbering of this idiot Ewan whatisname.
