Celtic fans were split in their reaction to a report that the club is weighing up a bid for Bojan Miovski.
The Aberdeen striker has caught the eye and found the net since moving to Pittodrie in the summer of 2022 but there is a big leap to be made to match the demands of being a Celtic striker.
Although the Asian Cup is going to test Celtic’s striking options it isn’t quite a priority area in the side with most fans looking for activity on a goalkeeper and left-back.
Mark Lawwell brought in Ben Siegrist and Alexandro Bernabei for those positions during the same window that Miovski moved from MTK Budapest to Aberdeen, it is fair to say that the Dons shopped better and are unlikely to be interested in the well paid Celtic duo.
There’s always a hesitancy to bring in players from our own league but with Bojan Miovski I’m a massive fan
Proven contributor both domestically and even in Europe now and only 24 with not a massive price tag
Definitely worth a go https://t.co/3AO2RkFfxo

The suggested fee of £4.5m is similar to the one that brought Kyogo Furuhashi to Celtic, those sort of fees are routine for strikers from outwith Scotland but domestically it is 16 years since that figure has been paid out.
Over the last two seasons Celtic have announced January transfers before the window opens, with less than four weeks to go all eyes are on Lawwell Mini to to see if he can avoid the sort of recruitment problems created by his Daddy.
Take where he plays away from proceedings.
If people were being offered a 24-year-old North Macedonian striker with 11 goals in 23 games then there would be more fanfare.
The fact he’s proven in the league is an added bonus.

Another bench player. Complete waste of money. Good player but is he actually any better than oh? Rodgers wants quality not numbers. Paper talk for me

Fans getting snobby over the fact it’s a lot of money for a player playing in Scotland however would be quite happy if the club went out and spent £6-£7M on someone like Mathias Kvistgaarde just because he’s from a different league.

We’ve got so many other areas that need strengthening. Not sure it’d be wise to spend so much on a 2nd choice striker

Surely Aberdeen would be after more than that?

£4.5 million on a player who isn’t even guaranteed to be 2nd choice is terrible value. I’d be expecting someone to push Kyogo for that kind of money.

Yet they wasted 3.5 on Klimala when people knew he was dug shit. Miovski on the other hand has proved he can score goals in Scotland but that doesn’t mean he’s the answer either.

Looks a good shout and, as for the naysayers, they’re probably some of the same people that moaned when we signed the likes of Scott MacDonald from Motherwell, or Stokesy, or Griff – all of whom did well for us, despite having only done anything of note for other Scottish clubs previously (I know Stokes and Griff had played down south too, but they didn’t really set any heather alight down there).
I like Oh and would give him time, but he doesn’t do enough for me – he’s certainly never adequately replaced big Giakoumakis. Like Kyogo, he’s probably also going to be missing in January anyway. I wonder if getting Miovski in and getting Oh a loan move for even half a season, where he gets more game time, might see him come back more like the finished article.
It would also help to have a striker in that knows the league if we lose Kyogo – possibly to an injury hit Spurs in January.
Better option would be the Limassol striker Babicka who torn them a new one twice. Strong powerful and quick and you’d get him at a reasonable price.
Key thing for me is, he knows the league. Also a different type of striker AND he’s done it against Sevco.
