Neil Lennon is the early favourite to become the next Motherwell manager with pressure mounting on Stuart Kettlewell after less than a year in the job.

Last night’s 3-0 defeat at Ross County made it 10 SPFL matches without a win for the Fir Parkers with County leapfrogging them in the table.

Former Motherwell and Ross County striker Derek Adams has delivered the new manager bounce to the Highland side after taking over from Malky Mackay and going into a favourable run of home fixtures.

Ross County were the fourth Premiership side to change manager this season with Lennon regularly linked with a return to management including speculation that he is in contention for the vacant manager’s job with Ireland.

In an ominous report for Kettlewell, The Sun reveals:

And it’s Celtic icon Lennon who is the early favourite, according to odds by SportsLens.

The ex-Hoops and Hibs boss has been out of work since being dismissed by Cypriot outfit Omonia in October 2022.

Despite being linked with a number of vacancies, Lennon has yet to make his return to management.

He’s one of several big names seen as potential contenders should the Motherwell job become available.

Another former Celtic captain, Paul Lambert – a former Motherwell player – has been priced-up as second favourite at 5/1.

Rangers hero Stuart McCall is out of work having been sacked from his No2 role at Sheffield United this week and a shock return as Motherwell manager is priced at 6/1.

Scott Brown, Callum Davidson and Jack Ross are next on the list of odds.

On Saturday Motherwell are at home to St Johnstone then travel to St Mirren on December 16.
