Michael Nicholson has promised Wilfried Nancy his full support over the coming transfer windows, plural.
The Celtic CEO made the commitment in what is now becoming a fairly frequent interview with Gerry McCulloch for Celtic TV.
It tool Nicholson four years to pluck up the courage to sit down with the in-house Paxman. On December 5 Celtic fans watched four underwhelming minutes of the CEO in chat.
TV STAR NICHOLSON
Without a tie and wearing a casual shirt Nicholson was unable to pull off his attempt at looking like a regular guy.
The previous day a video clip showed him hugging Nancy before a very awkward walkaround at Lennoxtown.
It is rumoured that the hug scene had to be taken five times before McCulloch decided to proceed with what he had.
Nicholson was naturally distraught at Peter Lawwell’s decision to resign. After blaming supporters for forcing his hero and mentor to step down the ‘leading sports lawyer’ turned to the current Celtic boss.
Nicholson refused to sit alongside Nancy as he was introduced as Celtic boss. Now he is delivering the dreaded vote of confidence.
Nicholson said:
It is not even two weeks ago when we spoke about Wilfried and his appointment. There is never an easy time to start at Celtic, and it has been challenging. We have had some disappointing results, not least on Sunday.
In that respect, I understand that the support are concerned about where we are. I understand, and I respect the right of every supporter to express their discontent and to share that with us. But we know where we want to go.
Step by step, that is all of our job, to support Wilfried, his team, and the squad to take us where we want to get to. The starting point is now.
We have been working, and I met with Wilfried this week to discuss recruitment ahead of the January transfer window and also looking ahead to the summer transfer window because we know that we have a project to support here.
We are excited about where we are going to get to. That is going to take time, both day to day within the training environment, but also month to month, window to window.
We know that when we get to that stage in the summer, hopefully having had success this season, we will be looking ahead to next season with great optimism, with Wilfried and his team.
TISDALE FACTOR
After two defeats during 2024 Nicholson stripped the goals and ability from Brendan Rodgers squad over two transfer windows in 2025.
Following four defeats in four matches Nancy knows what to expect in January- if he lasts that long.
More signings from Tisdale Analytics. Players like Sebastian Tounekti, Michel-Ange Balikwisha, Shin Yamada, Hayato Inamura and Jahmai Simpson-Pusey.
With his current squad Nancy is now preparing to face Aberdeen on Sunday. Looking to avoid five defeats on the bounce as Celtic manager.
Nancy arrived at Celtic after an underwhelming season in charge of Columbus Crew, leading them to seventh in the 14 team Easter Conference. In half of the MLS there are six coaches better than Nancy who was Nicholson’s number one candidate to replace Brendan Rodgers.

When the league is lost , and with it the 40 million CL monies the blame will be laid at his door ” Metaphorically ” speaking , before they go off accusing all sorts of imagined and exaggerated threats , he is now the only one holding out on the return of the GB
“PROJECT” ??? When is Celtic a fckn project.
The reality is regardless of the spin about next years world cup soccer is a minority sport in the US and nobody really cares even in the soccer “world “ who ultimately wins the MLS competition there is no intensity or passion associated with soccer in the US and…..so i can 100% say with confidence Nancy will be sitting back say what the hell is all this nonsense and panic about. That is the the normal in the MLS you win a few you lose a few .
The problem is not Nancy’s it is the clown that hired him that is the problem
Michael Nicolson is chauffeured into work every morning. What grasp of reality do you actually think the Celtic PR titled “Leading Sports Lawyer” actually has?
Celtic is Grace Brothers.
Nicholson, tying hiimself to the mast! Nancy may talk a good game, but it is all lost in translation! Did they even interview him before hiring him?
A good comedy sketch!
Oh – That makes me sick so it does !
What project – A bucket of projectile vomit should be poured over Lucan for that chat…
“The starting point is now” – Why the fuck was it not in the summertime ya bag of stinking diarrhoea…
