GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - MARCH 08: A spectator attempts to get to Celtic's Tomas Cvancara and the rest of the squad as they leave the pitch during a Scottish Gas Scottish Cup Quarter-Final match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium, on March 08, 2026, in Glasgow, Scotland. Marc Spence was arrested on Sunday at Ibrox for an incident involving Celtic employees.
There is footage of the incident across social media.
Spence is a 47-year-old man. Not an ultra, not in the Union Bears, he wasn’t wearing a mask or seated in the Copland Road Stand.
The main issue in The Sun is that he has been axed from his coaching role with the Glenbuck 2016s.
Someone that spends time coaching 10-year-olds felt so angry that he left his seat at Ibrox to get on the pitch to commit an act that has resulted in his arrest.

On these sort of issues social media comes into its own.
People know Spence. Others can check over his social media accounts.
There are some interesting claims about his wife’s job. Some are suggesting that he is related to a former Rangers player.
While most of the Scottish media wish to pin Sunday’s events on young ultras that is clearly not the case.
Spence is Exhibit A.
SCOTLAND’S SHAME DOMINATES IBROX
Blaming those pesky ultras is very convenient.
Commercial publishers issue content for their audience to entice advertisers.
BBC Scotland should be above that, it has no commercial considerations.
The only audience that they have to address are those paying £13/month for the state broadcaster.
Some facts about Sunday would help portray an accurate picture.
Starting with the add-ons from three stands at Ibrox as the club restored the full version of The Best by Tina Turner over the PA system.
To identifying that only Celtic players and employees were attacked on the pitch.
Onto flares and bottles being thrown into the Broomloan Stand by pitch invaders.
And the BBC could help identify those on the pitch that attacked stewards and Police Officers.
But like Dougie Donnelly and the ‘nothing to see here’ VAR highlights on Sportscene, BBC Scotland won’t go near real issues.
Big shout out from the sun for saying rangers fan.Normally the narrative would be football fan

Axed? They asked if they want him kept on, and most folk said yes ?, I shouldn’t expect anything more from the sun though ??

While the talk is of Rangers fans being “GOADED” from 80+ yards aways as their excuse to invade the park. What about the clear goading by those two morons in bear costumes prior to the start standing on the touchline right in front of the Celtic fans, one idiot waving the corner flag about inciting trouble which rightly was completely ignored.
Complaints about a few stickers, well having nothing to do for THREE hours before kick off leads to boredom, but a lot easier to remove than smashed up toilets or broken seats. What was their excuse for breaking multiple seats at their own end LOL !!!
No Workd Cup for us as the tournament gets closer to being cancelled.
Iran has now withdrawn from the tournament, and have now put it out there that they have sleepercells already in America ready fir attack.
Then you add in the cartels in Mexico putting out statements they are going to disrupt the games by creating chaos there.
Two out of 3 countries hosting these games with HUGE safety issues, people will fear for their safety and the football is irrelevant at this time.
This World Cup will be cancelled.
I can’t say for certain if Dougie Donnelly was telling the truth or not on Sunday night but what he did say was they couldnt show the footage of the disturbances because it was subject to an ongoing investigation. If that is accurate and if the investigation takes account of what actually occurred (two very big if’s in there) then the blame is at least 80/20 towards Sevco and an ineffectual or incompetent security operation by them, their stewards and Police Scotland.
There is never any major outcry when fans enter the field of play to celebrate a goal or a win. It is wrong and there might be a bit of tut-tutting but generally there is no real comeback on either the individual fans or the clubs they follow. They are just shepherded back off the pitch. If there is an attempt to apportion 50% of the blame for Sundays events on to Celtic or Celtic fans then judicial review should be sought because no sane person looking at the situation objectively would arrive at that conclusion. But we live in a funny sort of country where an inbuilt cultural bias sees things through a prism of institutional hatred of us. The results of any investigation is unlikely to please everyone but it has to arrive at a credible conclusion otherwise it should be challenged. This is not 1980 anymore and an edict of “they’re both as bad as each other” simply won’t wash in the Information Age.
Don’t think dougie was being truthful at all , every news channel showed what happened before and after sport scene , they ( sport scene ) were acting as sensors to try hide the truth of what happened at ibrox . Don’t let them kid you .
I have read some thugs can’t be identified due to wearing masks covering their face. This is utter crap ….POLICE SCOTLAND COULD VERY EASILY IDENTIFY THESE THUGS BUT ONLY IF THEY WANT TO…..Identify the thugs by the thuggery they commit..rewind the recording following the thugs back to their seats …then investigate who was in that seat.. bingo…the police know who they are…oh and to make it easier to identify the thugs …I’ll hazard a guess..they will take off the face covering during the match
Tam – one of the things that I noticed watching Premier Sports was that when the cameras panned back across the pitch to the Copeland rd. end, after the invasion, the onion bears section was virtually empty, – even Inspector Clouseau could solve this one. Great comment above Captain (as always).
Given what most huns look like, I think masks are generally advisable to save onlookers from mental trauma. However, in the case of huns (and anyone really) the wearing of masks inside football stadia, on street marches and the like there should be a blanket ban. The onion brats are well-known for this and the reason is clearly to avoid detection (from likely criminal behaviour) so a ban in these cases, and probably quite a few more, would seem to make sense and would definitely reduce savage behaviour.
Good point you make there, about the masks.
What guarantee do Celtic FC have that its staff will not be subjected to violence at their next visit ?
Looks from Wallow Wallow that they planned a masked up march from a pre designated area through public streets to Liebrox…
This was allowed be Polis Alba…
Sad day at The Croft for Emma then…
Sad day for The Celtic supporters and staff they were allowed to attack as well !
Our Board have just definitely proven that they are not fit for purpose as they have no wish to ensure the safety of our players or staff, or indeed the safety of its fans. We have all witnessed the way the fans are held in repugnance since the totally amateur AGM.
