There was one big figure missing from Derek McInnes’ introduction as manager at Ibrox yesterday. Club Chairman Andrew Cavenagh.
Of course none of the invited media audience asked about the absence of money man Cavenagh.
A few weeks earlier the American businessman had called the messengers to Ibrox to explain why the club was sticking with Danny Rohl.
The gormless German loser was last seen at Falkirk on May 16 after leading his side into third place in the SPFL Premiership.
Cavenagh was front and central when Russell Martin and Rohl were presented as managers.
Delivering the reassuring buzz words. Nothing of substance, all the soccer phrases that he could remember.
Explaining the processes involved. How clever he was. Applying his judgement and intelligence to put Scottish football in its place.
Yesterday Cavenagh was nowhere to be seen.
Another bright new era at Ibrox. One with the staunchest of stamps. Finally one of their own in charge of the Tribute Act. Bringing in players with similar DNA.
After fooling the media into believing that he was backing Rohl it seems that Cavenagh has gone to ground.
CAVENAGH GOES MISSING
The messengers are all happy. Most of them know McInnes or knows someone that does.
The former Hearts boss won’t face the same hostility as Martin did a year ago.
Little will be pushed back at Chairman Cavenagh. There has barely been a mention of the 49ers in the process. Even the messengers have realised that there is no relationship between San Francisco and Ibrox.
The only issue now is funding.
There are no £30m bids coming in for Nicky Raskin, Youssel Chermiti or Manny Fernandez.
Around £40m was flushed down the pan last season.
Now Cavenagh is expected to fund a similar investment.
Which might explain why he left the talking to McInnes and Jim Gillespie. The CEO that sounds like one of the angry bears calling up the open line on Super Scoreboard.

There is another multi million pounds confetti..sorry ..share issue about to be introduced from Ibroxland all sanctioned from within where the champion Elastoplast sales rep ( 4 years running ) , has given his blessing ! Nice friendly handshake McInnes gave Gillespie yesterday …bye the way ! Caught beautifully by a snapper leaving very little to the imagination . Absolutely gripping stuff…..
Looks like he wanting his old Aberdeen losers together again.
