Desperation meets meltdown at Ibrox as Derek McInnes makes loan move

Panic has set in at Ibrox on the back of a disastrous start to the season for Derek McInnes.

It hardly gets more desperate than going back in to sign Jayden Meghoma on loan!

The Brentford defender was brought in on loan last summer by Russell Martin and sunk without trace.

Meghoma started 24 SPFL matches last season with no attempt made to turn the move into a permanent deal.

Now with reports that Tuur Rommens is facing 6-8 weeks out with a muscle injury an SOS has gone out to bring Meghoma back in on loan.

Earlier today AEK Athens pulled out of sending James Penrice to Ibrox on loan.

That all followed on from news that Youssef Chermiti has suffered an ACL injury and will be out of action for an unspecified time.

The £30m rated striker suffered the injury trying to foul Josh Mulligan during Sunday’s home defeat against Hibs.

Instantly Chermiti knew that it was a serious injury. Monday’s scan has confirmed an ACL injury that is likely to rule him out for the whole season.

McInnes is believed to be on the brink of his 10th signing with Couhaib Driouech coming in from PSV Eindhoven.

There seems to be a complete scatter-gun approach to recruitment at Ibrox with key areas in the team overlooked.

Meghoma is viewed as everything that was wrong with Russell Martin’s 123 days in charge last year.

After being promised millions of investment from the San Francisco 49ers the cold light of day has revealed a very different picture.

Last summer Kev Thelwell was in charge of recruitment under the title of Sporting Director.

His appointment Dan Purdy remains as Head of Recruitment. Thelwell’s son Robbie is in a senior scouting role, Robbie works 25/8 bringing in stars to Ibrox.

NOTE: There has been no update on Lewis Ferguson, Mikey Moore or Vaclav Cerny moving to Ibrox.
