Celtic haven’t been paid the ticket money that they are owed from the Scottish Cup tie at Ibrox in March.
Scottish Cup rules entitle the away club to 45% of the ticket money as well as 20% of the match tickets.
Rather than take the 10,200 tickets that they are entitled to Celtic settled for 7,500 giving them the full Broomloan Road Stand.
Naturally Celtic retained the money from the tickets that they sold to their fans. Priced at £53 and £43 for concessions.
At an average price of around £50 the gate money would have raised around £2.55m.
After VAT and expenses there should be a pot of around £1.7m to be split between the two clubs.
According to the well placed Stephen McGowan Celtic are waiting on a payment of around £450,000 from a match played five months ago.
Speaking on the Radio Scotland Football Podcast (22 minutes) McGowan said:
If you look at that Scottish Cup tie in March there was obviously a big row because Rangers were unhappy about the mess that Celtic supporters made of the Broomloan Stand.
Celtic are unhappy that they have still not been paid their money from that tie, for ticket sales.
Because of this dispute it is at SFA level now. It has yet to be resolved, it might lead to arbitration to do it.
So that issue is still swimming around in the background but I suspect, without knowing for sure that they will now go to the league (SPFL) rules for this one (The League Cup tie).
It is the draw that nobody wanted, both clubs had their heads in their hands when this one came out. But I think that they’ll go for 5% away fans, that would probably be the obvious compromise agreement in this slightly awkward situation.
Fuelled by the paranoia of their fans on social media the Ibrox club has been building up a bill for damage to their crumbling stadium.
CELTIC PAY THE PRICE FOR IBROX ISSUES
A few stickers being removed and alleged damage to an advertising board appears to have reached around £1.5m.
Despite the tales of doom the Free Broomloan was in full use for a match on March 21. Less than two weeks after the alleged damage.
Tellingly no-one from Celtic was involved in the pre or post match audit of the Broomloan Stand to assess any damage.
On September 13 the two clubs will meet again in the League Cup with no ticketing rules in place. Unlike the Scottish Cup where the SFA has the 20% away ticket rule in place.
Celtic are likely to get 2,500 tickets for the match after lots of posturing and comments from Andrew Cavenagh and his board.
Anything less and Celtic have the ability to repeat whatever stunt they pull for the SPFL match at Celtic Park on September 20.
In an ideal world there would be no away fans at either ground.
Consigning the 10 year-old fixture to the toxic dustbin that it belongs to.

Just for a matter interest when does McInnes start his 5 match ban or do they just ignore it like everything else
They probably don’t have the money to pay Celtic, spent it all, send the bailiffs round Ibrokes way. Now we know how the face painter felt
Take no tickets for their crumbling sh!thole and give them none for Paradise, gtf neanderthals
Used not paying bills, everyone knows that.
“…In an ideal world there would be no away fans at either ground…”
That would be the pragmatic approach,
and especially if the £450K payable to Celtic remains – significantly – overdue?
Celtic should not pay a fu**in penny towards them having not been invited to an ‘alleged’ damage audit !
What does anyone expect the unfit for purpose inept and incompetent SFA to do about this or any other contentious problems ? That bowling club committee should be forced to resign in disgrace and humiliation ? Decades of failures under its watch domestically and Internationally have made this country’s reputation in world football circles a laughing stock …yet continues to receive free passes for each and every failure and embarrassing performance while they are the administrative body overseeing it all . Blameless in continuum ! This Summer’s World Cup is just the latest example of Scotland under the guidance and leadership of this pathetic SFA governing body to fail and collapse once again when hopes and dreams were high ! Get rid of them …and the title ! Time for root and branch change for good .
Demand the full allocation that is due under Scottish Cup rules . The fact that nothing is in place to make a decision on this after all these years is exactly why Scottish football is such a Masonic mess !
Anything less then take zero , and give them zero until they pay up .
I would hazard a guess the damage done to the opposite end on that day was as bad if not worse than the Free Broomloan .
Ban the Bastards enough is enough they don’t want us in the place they don’t even want the players in there shithole so take no tickets and give no tickets fuck them
