Peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, last night The Louden Tavern slipped away into the after-life.
The much loathed eye-sore on Duke Street served slops for the last time as disinterested bears shrugged their shoulders and said ‘somebdy’s got tae dae sumthn’.
And with that it was all over.
Louden no more.
Less than 140 years of following a former football club and an Anglo-German family is over. Gone forever.
This is 100% real… WHY ARE THEY LIKE THIS!?!

NO TROPHY CHEERS AT THE LOUNDEN
The last trophy win that was celebrated by the not so regulars was in December 2023.
Aberdeen were beaten in the League Cup Final as the Phil Clement Revolution promised a glorious new future.
Since then Barry Ferguson, Russell Martin and Danny Rohl have tried and failed to bring cheer to the elderly bears.
Now Derek McInnes, one of their own is in charge. Things are looking bleak for Deek despite adopting Walter’s Cardigan on matchdays.
As last orders were served on Saturday night McInnes’ side are sitting in 10th place in the SPFL Premiership.
There will be no European visitors to Ibrox this season.
Missed penalties from Findlay Curtis and James Penrice against Jablonec ended hopes of a lengthy run into the UEFA Conference.
With a distinct lack of football success and changing demographics pubs like The Louden Tavern are finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet.
Glasgow in 2026 is a very different place to 1998 when the Louden advertised a 10-in-a-row party.
After witnessing the end for the Lounden loyal bears could be in for similar scenes at Aberdeen today.
Two wins from seven match wasn’t the start expected for the Staunch Revolution but pressure is mounting on McInnes.
With a trip to Falkirk followed by Motherwell visiting Ibrox it is hard to see where McInnes will get his first win in the SPFL.
Located around one mile from Celtic Park the unthinkable could be about to become reality.
Meanwhile around Glasgow Cross, High Street and into the Merchant City sales of Guinness are hitting record levels.
