According to Anthony Joseph Celtic have had a £6m offer for Fares Ghedjemis rejected by Frosinone.
The Sky Sports reporter is one of the most reliable sources of Celtic news.
Celtic showed interest in Ghedjemis during the January transfer window but that came to nothing.
Since then Frosinone have gained promotion to Serie A.
On Friday it emerged that Celtic had renewed their interest in the winger. Unusually Martin O’Neill confirmed that there was a strong interest in Ghedjemis.
With the start of their SPFL campaign less than 24 hours away the Italian side have rejected an offer for last season’s 15 goal winger.
UPDATE: Frosinone have knocked back Celtic’s opening offer of around £6m for winger Fares Ghedjemis.
It’s understood the Serie A club would like to keep the Algeria international, but the Scottish champions are pushing hard for a deal.
Talks are ongoing between the clubs.… https://t.co/Q5JW8CWEUZ

Going into Matchday 1 Celtic have only signed two players over the entire close season.
CELTIC SQUAD REBUILD
From the double winning squad Kelechi Iheanacho, Marcelo Saracchi and Daizen Maeda have moved on. As have Luis Palma, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh.
O’Neill has maintained an upbeat attitude on transfer activity but must be growing concerned about the lack of activity.
Coupled with offers coming in for Alistair Johnston and Arne Engels there are growing grounds for concern.
After three domestic matches Celtic go into their Champions League Play Off on August 18/19 and 25/26.
The squad for those matches has to be given to UEFA on August 13 with two changes permitted 24 hours before the first leg.
While Kasper Hogh is match fit from Bodo Glimt the same can’t be said for Ghedjemis or Mika Baur of Padenborn.
The league season’s in Italy and Germany don’t start until the end of August.
So far Celtic’s net spend is around £1m although there is no definite account of exact transfer fees.
With a bank balance that varies between £70-100m the funds are there for Celtic to spend on players but like previous seasons business tends to be delayed.
Last summer Celtic’s main spend came in the final week of the transfer window. After losing to Kairat Amaty in the Champions League Play Off around £10m was spent on Michel-Ange Balikwisha and Sebastian Tounekti.
