Italian transfer specialist Nicolo Schira reveals Celtic’s Serie A target

Celtic are reported to be preparing a new bid to sign Gvidas Gineitis from Torino.

Late on Saturday night Italian transfer specialist Nicola Schira tweeted the claim. Interestingly he used the phrase ‘new’ bid which suggests that one offer has already been rejected.

With 426,000 followers on Twitter/X Schira is an account to take note of.

As well as Arne Engels offers are expected for other Celtic midfielders in the coming weeks.

Celtic appear to have an interest in Mika Baur of Paderborn but other additions will be required if players such as Reo Hatate and Paulo Bernardo move on.

Although aged 22 Gineitis has made 59 appearances in Serie A over the last two seasons and has been based in Italy for six years.

Additionally he has 32 caps for Lithuania after making his full international debut at the age of 18.

Celtic  are already looking at replacements and 22-year-old Lithuanian midfielder Gineitis is on the radar.

The powerful 6ft B3in Torino ace already has 32 senior caps and is attracting strong interest from the  Bundesliga.

But SunSport understands Celtic have watched him in recent months after he caught the eye in  Serie A.

Gineitis still has three years left on his contract after signing an extension last  summer.

The Lithuanian has an impressive profile which is likely to attract interest from other Italian sides.

Convincing him to move to Celtic would be a major achievement but two years ago Celtic did something similar with Arne Engels.

There was the guarantee of Champions League football to attract Engels in season 24/25.

In just over two weeks Celtic face a Champions League Play Off as they look to return to UEFA’s top competition.

The draw for that will be made on Monday with the squad declared on August 13. Two changes can be made before the first leg on August 18/19.

Celtic will have played three competitive matches by that stage, starting tomorrow at home to Dundee.
