Keith Jackson has sent out the first distress message on behalf of Ibrox boss Derek McInnes.
In case anyone has missed it the veteran Daily Record reporter is a huge fan of the man currently filling the brownest of brogues.
Jackson has long championed the cause of McInnes to become manager at Ibrox.
That opportunity seemed to be lost in 2017 when Del Boy walked away.
A year ago McInnes wasn’t quoted but after Russell Martin and Danny Rohl imploded the club decided to take the Staunch Option.
‘He got it’ was the reaction to McInnes being appointed manager in June.
‘He knows the league’ was another favourite as Lawrence Shankland, Ross McCrorie and Cammy Devlin were summoned to duty.
THIS TIME IT WILL BE DIFFERENT WITH A REAL MANAGER AT IBROX…
McInnes was building a team of leaders.
Never again would a squad of foreigners be caught short at Tannadice, Fir Park, Tynecastle, Pittodrie or the SMISA Stadium.
All was going well.
The Close Season Cup and the Transfer Window Trophy were claimed with something to spare.
Alas the good times gave way to reality on Friday night. Dundee United didn’t roll over. They went toe to toe, McInnes’ team wilted. They were lucky to take a point away.

‘I’d be stunned if Derek McInnes didn’t have Manny Fernandez pinned to the Tannadice dressing room wall!’ ????

The visuals of that are quite incredible. Manny Fernandez is about one foot taller than his boss, more than 20 years younger and an awful lot stronger.
McInnes lost all respect with the non-Scots when he appointed Shankland as his captain.
An out of shape 30 something that takes every second season off from scoring goals. With two Scottish Championship winners medals in his trophy cabinet.
DEFEND MCINNES AT ANY COST
Jackson went through Fernandez as if he was John Souttar.
Since the turn of the year the Record has been banging the drum for a £30m transfer deal for Fernandez. Each month it is a new club. Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla. Just switch the variables.
Fernandez is a run of the mill League One defender. At 25 he has missed the boat to the big time.
Jackson went round the houses blaming players, recruitment under Kevin Thelwell and the innocence of Andrew Cavenagh. Apparently the club Chairman is well intentioned but hasn’t a clue about soccer.
Everyone, anyone is at fault except McInnes.
Back in 2017 there were some choice comments from angry bears questioning the ‘bravery’ of McInnes.
Rohl was welcomed as manager because he isn’t Martin. McInnes is in the same boat, he is staunch and not Rohl.
As McInnes squeals for more money to spend the pressure on him grows.
Not even the unswerving backing of the Daily Record will spare him from the inevitable if results continue as they started off on Friday at Tannadice
