According to Anthony Joseph the teenage striker is undergoing a medical in London ahead of joining the hoops on loan.
Mheuka is an England u-19 internationalist but has yet to taste first team football.
So far in the transfer window two of Celtic’s four arrivals have been strikers.
Adding Mheuka suggests that there are issues or a departure on the go.
Kasper Hogh missed the 2-1 win over Falkirk with substitute Callum Osmand leaving the stadium in a moon boot and crutches.

Celtic are closing in on the signing of Chelsea striker Shim Mheuka.
It’s understood the England U19 international is undergoing a medical in London today, ahead of a possible loan move to the Scottish champions.
Sky Sports News revealed last month that Mheuka, 18, had agreed terms on a new deal with Chelsea until the summer of 2033.
Johnny Kenny is the only other first team striker at Celtic but has yet to play any football this season.
In January he had a successful loan spell at Bolton Wanderers but that ended in injury which curtailed his pre-season activity.
Bolton have been strongly linked with resuming their interest in Kenny.
If Mheuka is joining on loan it could open the door for Kenny to move out on loan or on a permanent basis.
Celtic have been linked for a few weeks with signing Chelsea defender Landon Emenalo on loan.
Unfortunately the teenager appears to be injured with that deal still on hold.
Celtic are expected to sign a left-back before the transfer window closes but it seems less likely that it will be Emenalo.

Why do I read a lot of the times that a ‘medical is booked ‘ when new recruits are being examined pre purchase ? Its as if Celtic don’t employ Doctors and medical experts in their fields ? It’s almost like Celtic and other clubs cannot conduct their own thorough medicals on all new potential recruits by their own medical specialists and have to use outside ‘sub contracted ‘ third party Doctors and organise the medicals like booking a hotel in advance when going on holiday ?
The club will have contracts with medical specialists, but the club will not have doctors on PAYE sitting doing nothing in between transfer windows, nor do the club own the specialist equipment. It’s not unlike most things in life. I don’t pay my doctors wages nor do I own his surgery. So if I need an examination, I arrange it with him and turn up on time to the appointment. Simple really.

Loans, loans, loans this is celtic fc. They prepare for this every year. I will be amazed if we buy anyone over the £3m range. Absolutely, disgraceful. I actually think I am becoming one of them because my comments are rinse and repeat just like them. Nothing changes and we’ll be here again next groundhog year.
Off topic here,but the McInnes ban situation with 2 games still hanging over his head between now and next season.
For the the decision to be dragged in the way it was,it will be interesting to see how long it takes the next time it’s not McInnes who has the outburst at the officials decisions,and how quickly they come up with punishment of the result of the hearing,it won’t be dragged over from one season to the next that’s for sure.
Back to the game on Sunday, Robinson should have gone TONTO big time,let the officials have it, McInnes did.
And yet Robinson took the cowards way out by saying nothing,he said after the game,I would say how I feel about the game today and the decisions,but I will knot get myself into trouble.
We’ll get yourself into trouble,say it as it is,you can’t have one rule for McInnes and one for everyone else.
He took his chance and spat it all out,got it out there and walked away whistling, Robinson should have done the same and faced the consequences.
What’s the worse that can happen,a fine,a 4 game ban,one reduced on the appeal,one served in a few weeks time,the other 2 hanging about you for this season and next,worth it to get out there,rightly or wrongly.
Only my opinion,which is like ARSEHOLES, everybody has one.
In my simple way of thinking, a loan player confirms a failing in the recruitment department?
[Except, at times of injuries a loan could be a quick / temporary fix?]
To bring in a rookie loan player is more confusing?
[Unless he’s brought in with an option to buy, but it’s still high risk?]
If Celtic is scrabbling about for loan deals, should it not be focused on experienced players
who are more likely to make an immediate impact,
and who would know how to handle themselves – in the Scottish game in particular?
It just seems that bringing in loan players is now part of a squad maintenance strategy
by the Board / DD?
