John Brown- the worst decision I’ve ever seen

|

Lewis Toshney Celtic newsJohn Brown last night slammed referee Alan Muir for awarding the worst penalty that he has ever seen.

Peter Pawlett tumbled under pressure from Lewis Toshney with former Celt Niall McGinn converting the penalty that relegates Dundee from the SPL.

“That decision has taken us down and it is a disgrace, the worst I have ever seen,” the Dundee boss stated. “The ref can go to his work on Monday and sleep well tonight but this is our livelihood and it has been taken out of our hands by a shocking decision.

“Lewis stood his ground and Pawlett just dived in two-footed, if anything it is a booking for him rather than a penalty kick.

“I also thought we had a stonewall penalty in the first half. So if you see the highlights you will see one that was a penalty and one that was not.

“It was 100 per cent not a penalty and it has taken us down. I have not really criticised their player yet, but to take a dive he should be ashamed of himself.

“But there you go. How many cheats are there in the game? That is where you think video technology, for 30 seconds in key moments in games, would work.

“When you consider a player can go down for minutes faking injury, and they can’t bring that in. It is a disgrace.

“That has taken us down. I am disappointed for all the fans. Aberdeen didn’t look as if they were going to threaten us. You expect officials to do their job and it makes a mockery of it.”

It’s unclear whether Kenny Clark and Stuart Dougal will be on media duty today to criticise Brown whose side played the last 30 minutes against ten men after Aberdeen’s Rory Fallon was sent off.

Shocking way for any team to get relegated.

Although on a personal level, “bomber”, being an ex rangers guy, has benefited from way more decisions than he’s lost out on.

  • brian mclaughlin says:

I´m afraid the standard of refereeing in Scotland is shockingly poor.
Look at Tony watt´s ” offside goal “yesterday.
    Poor poor decision.
I agre with JB though they would probably have went down anyway but as you say Steve what goes around comes around.
No sympathy here for him or the hello hello we are the Dundee
    boys.

  • Mags says:

It wasn’t just yesterday’s result that got Dundee relegated.

  • Thomas says:

Cheats! Mockery? The ref can what?
OK SFA he didnt swear but what are you going to do about this, ban Bomber?

  • The Panman says:

I feel sorry for Dundee but its their season as a whole that’s relegated them, not good enough. As for ‘bomber’ he’s just a fanny.

  • Andy says:

Calling fellow professional’s cheats, it will be interesting to see if the SFA does anything about Brown.

  • paranoidandroid says:

I saw that “penalty” on the news this morning. Regardless of who it was against, it was just plain embarrassing. It seems that the years of favouritism and corruption at the SFA are really taking their toll now:

Corruption and incompetence always go hand and hand.

  • justshatered says:

Is this the John Brown that used to defend corners not looking at the ball but standing directly in front of opposition players facing them. I don’t ever remember him calling a ref over and saying ‘I fouled him there and that should be a penalty.’
We all know that football is full of cheats but we don’t need John Brown, of all people, telling us this.

  • Sweeney Hughes says:

Is NFL the only Scottish manager that gets sanctioned for criticising or questioning a match officials decision or performance?

  • Richie says:

    Who Cares !

  • pattaya says:

All season long performances have got Dundee relegated, not one penalty kick against Aberdeen.

  • thomas cochrane says:

    The guy is paranoid !

  • Me says:

Wonder if the compliance officer will get a call?? Saying that I hope not because he will only gie Neil Lennon a further ban instead of bummer broon

  • Larry says:

Don’t like brown but have to agree with him here. Ref was wrong on both penalty claims and cheats do win as brown himself knows.

    • eastside says:

Zoomer Broon is just another tainted ex-player of Deidco. His playing career was built on ‘honest mistakes’ at Cheats FC. He even has the bewildering audacity to ask how many cheats are in the game!!! Ha ha ha!!!
