The Daily Record had barely pressed the PUBLISH button on their Maurice Ross exclusive about Giorgos Giakoumakis than it was being torn apart.
Ross of course is the former Notts County assistant manager who was sacked last May for gross misconduct in relation to racist comments about players during a match. Record readers were told that he had resigned.
It is tricky to know where to start with the back page story on the Record. Does the blame lie with the intrepid reporter, Andy Newport, Ross for blabbing away or higher up the food chain at the Glasgow publisher for allowing the story to surface.
Apparently Giakoumakis requires some humility- this from someone that took part in a scam of disguised remuneration under Dave Murray during his Ibrox days. Perhaps he has repaid the Income Tax, National Insurance, interest and penalties and has decided to show some humility over the issue. Perhaps he hasn’t.
After his brief spell at Notts County, Ross would be well advised to keep a very low profile, try to rebuild a career with Cowdenbeath throwing a lifeline with the job of managing the worst team in the SPFL.
Shouting the odds to the Record on the day of a match away to league leaders Kelty Hearts isn’t the smartest move. Barry Ferguson’s obsession with other clubs recently led to a parting of the ways with Alloa.
If the aim of the exclusive was for feedback on social media, it worked a treat. If the Record is trying to lure in younger followers to replace their declining Army of Readers it looks like another classic own goal.

“A lack of class” is being asked to leave Notts County over inappropriate comments to a player.
“A lack of class” is being liquidated, stiffing 270 creditors and then claiming you’re a 150 year old club, despite all the evidence pointing otherwise.
Pipe down Ross.

Rangers fans getting their panties in a bunch over Giakoumakis’ comments, would do well to remember this doozy that never came to pass.?

Talking of class or lack thereof, why did Maurice leave his last club before Cowdenbeath?
— ceern. (@NotoriousBAG_) February 21, 2022
Isn’t the team he’s managing currently last place in League 2 ?? ? I’m sure the Cowdenbeath fans are delighted with Ross finding time to vent anger at the mighty Celtic. Obviously hurting that his wee team are imploding (but which one)… ?? mind the gap!

Big GG has them absolutely rattled. Destroyed a team he wasn’t even playing against. I would say that takes some class

We’ve been top of the league for over a decade (one small bump in the road excepted), Maurice Ross? Non-entity player who struggled to scale those heights as a coach, notable only for racist comments, wonder where he picked them up?

scotlands media shame. they really are a disgrace . sevco fanzines .
Wee suggestion racist boy. Show some class, support the NHS and pay your taxes.
That also applies to all the other EBT tax dodgers while they were at the dead club, many of whom are employed by the state national broadcaster, and the Daily Ranker.
You really couldn’t make it up.
