Chris Sutton described it as just short of a full blooded Karate Kick as Shaun Rooney attacked Greg Taylor late on during Celtic’s 3-0 win over St Mirren.
It had been a tough shift for the Paisley side as they were given the run-around from the Champions as they maintained their 100% record which stretches back six matches into last season.
Callum McGregor’s third minute opener set the tone for the match with St Mirren restricted to hoofing the ball forward and launching long throws into the penalty area.

Ally Johnston put the points beyond the home side with Celtic’s third goal in the 71st minutes, soon afterwards Rooney’s frustrations got the better of him.
Turning into Taylor he found his route blocked, as the ball was played inside Rooney swung his left foot at Taylor, catching his opponent on the leg.
Referee Chris Graham seemed to be following the clash between the two players and blew for a St Mirren free kick and paused the game.
Steven McLean on VAR had checked and rejected two first half penalty claims for incidents on Daizen Maeda, Graham opted to book Taylor and Rooney with Sutton a little surprised by that outcome after the VAR review.

New Ref same auld Dodgy decisions! McLean on VAR the Cheating Hun Bastard.. Never gonny gie us Fuk Aw!!
St Mirren today looked and played like a team of WWF wrasslers and got away with it because this is Scotland, where cluggers are enabled and cultured footballers are fair game.
This is not Pele’s beautiful game but an ugly corruption of it, sanctioned by the Scoddish foodbaw authorities and hailed by its media.
And it remains the reason why Scotland will NEVER amount to anything on the world stage.
McLean has put his selve as favourite for Glasgow Derby this man has no honour he only stand by one oath the one he took joining masons this lot of refs we have had for the last decade has brought scottish refereeing to its lowest fifa and uefa have seen them throw away there scruples to deny Celtic but it hasn’t worked two penalties denied a blatant kick not red carded and why was Taylor booked Rodgers had to substitute him his next challenge he was off not that it would make any diffrance to the game but next week was the thought in the yellow card and Rodgers knew it he has seen it all before
Gotta be honest , didn’t think any of them were clear cut pens and wuda bn ragin if they had been given against us, but such has been the criteria for a pen in the last couple of years, wer all looking for them.
