Spurs are reported to be ‘weighing up a move’ for James Tavernier.
The story comes from Teamtalk a week after they revealed Arsenal’s interest in £35m rated Manny Fernandez.
Fraser Fletcher is the normal source of moonbeams on Teamtalk but the Tavernier tale comes from the imagination of Graeme Bailey.
According to his X/Twitter profile Bailey is a football and transfer correspondent.
It seems that Teamtalk is hellbent on outdoing Football Insider when it comes to the most far fetched and unlikely of stories.
ARE SPURS ABOUT TO HIT ROCK BOTTOM?
The TAV FOR SPURS story follows a very familiar template.
There is the headline followed by a watered down introduction then the padding out of a story that is as ridiculous as the Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos tales from four and five years ago.
Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up a summer move for Rangers captain James Tavernier this summer, @TEAMtalk can reveal.https://t.co/WDcZ3DGmqS

In 11 years at Ibrox there has barely been the slightest interest in Tavernier.
The former Wigan ‘star’ is the journeyman that got lucky.
Nominally a right-back Tavernier can barely defend.
He does strike the ball better than most which has allowed him to become the free-kick, corner and penalty taker at Ibrox.
Eight successive managers have stuck with Tav, since 2018 he has had the armband which comes with mysterious expectations among Ibrox fans.
To say he has disappointed is an understatement. So much so that it has become his catchphrase in post match interviews.
The captaincy brings additional media responsibilities. There are only so many ways that you can explain away losing major matches and the impact of the new manager bounce.
Since January there hasn’t been any credible reports of clubs interested in the soon to be free agent Tavernier.
Spurs are in a mess but still not in such a bad way that they’ll be swooping for a non defending right-back.
With four matches left in his career time is running out for Tav to add to his achievements. His last penalty was sent over Vil Sinisalo’s crossbar as Celtic won at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup.
Remember the millions all the top sides were going to pay for “ buffalo wings” Morelos? ??? pic.twitter.com/xoNYubzJHp

To do what?? Since he’s been at ranjurrz not one team has been interested in him so why now when he’s 35?? Is a club like spurs interested??

Agent spin?
TavPen wasn’t good enough for Spurs 11 years ago, and stll isn’t.
Lucky if he gets a Championship team,
[other than Spurs, of course. 🙂 ]
At least Tav is of an age he can’t respectably retire if he can’t get a gig next season. Similarly, Fatty Morelos still has a club to play for back in Colombia. The trailer park serial killer Kent on the other hand is out of the game without a club before his 30th birthday. A £7m signing….
Joe that report from teamtalk is definitely wrong, Man City offered 30million for him but the greedy Huns are hold out for 40 plus….
