Charlie Nicholas has tipped Celtic to beat Rennes 1-0 tonight.

The Sky Sports pundit seems rather reluctant to praise Neil Lennon’s side with Lazio described as a ‘decent scalp’ that it ‘took them long enough’ to achieve.

Despite being presented as a former Celtic striker it seems that any success for his old club is a source of frustration for Nicholas with any acknowledgement of success given reluctantly.

On Sky Sports News Mystic Nich predicts:

Celtic have done a great job. I didn’t expect them to get the win at Lazio. It was a decent scalp and it took them long enough to get a scalp like that away from home. They are an attack-minded team and enjoy a lot of possession in their home matches, especially in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic are top of their group and want to win the group but Neil Lennon will make three or four changes nevertheless. They need to keep feeding players game time. I see them winning but it will be a tough one – it is a hard-working night but it is more about game time for some fringe players.

CHARLIE PREDICTS: 1-0

Neil Lennon has already revealed that Olivier Ntcham, the last gasp hero in Lazio, will start the match with Greg Taylor and Moritz Bauer coming in to fill in at full-back.

Although they have already booked their place in the knock-out stage in February tonight’s match carries plenty of meaning with the hoops looking to extend their nine match winning run.

Full points tonight alongside a win for Lazio at home to Cluj will ensure top place in the group which would allow Lennon to field a shadow XI when Celtic return to Romania in a fortnight.
