GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - MAY 16: Martin O'Neill, Interim Manager of Celtic lifts the William Hill Premiership trophy with players of Celtic following the team's victory in the William Hill Premiership match between Celtic and Heart of Midlothian at Celtic Park on May 16, 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland. Martin O’Neill has found a new way of upsetting the Scottish media.
Celtic’s SPFL title win on Saturday was greeted with a wave of outrage because a few hundred fans were on the pitch for three minutes.
They shouldn’t have been on the pitch, they shouldn’t have approached and goaded Hearts fans.
However despite the claims of Sky Sports, Pat Nevin, Allan Preston and others there were no assaults or violence.
If there was it would have been highlighted on Saturday night. Five days on there is no evidence of a Hearts player being struck. According to Keith Jackson of the Daily Record Frankie Kent was blood-soaked in the away dressing room.
With Michael Nicholson draining £17,000 a week as CEO there will be no kick-back from Celtic as legacy media outlets pile in with their attacks.
MARTIN O’NEILL DELIVERS MORE MEDIA PAIN
Since the midweek win over Motherwell the criticism of Celtic has been relentless.
Sky Sports, BBC Scotland and TalkSPORT have led the way.
On Monday morning Jim White tried it on with O’Neill. He was having none of it.
The neutral guy from Kelvinside Academy was pushed back on his heels. Simon Jordan wasn’t so cocky.
Martin O’Neill ‘let himself down badly’ on Celtic fan pitch invasion ?

O’Neill delivered a fun home truths, set some context and that didn’t go down well with St Mirren fans Bill Leckie and Robert Grieve at The Sun.
It seems that O’Neill let himself down. On Friday O’Neill will host media conferences to preview the Scottish Cup Final.
Leckie and Grieve can take their issues straight to the Celtic manager. Or they can back off and send a colleague instead.
The nature of Celtic’s 56th title win has cut deep into the Scottish media. They feel hurt and anger in equal measure.
The significance of the number 56 is rarely mentioned. Another factor in the continuity lie has been laid to rest. Alongside ‘The World’s Most Successful Club’, Simply The Best and Penny Arcade.
It seems that Scotland’s World Cup appearance can barely compensate for the pain of O’Neill leading Celtic to another title success.
Oh ffs. Check the state of the two soon to be hearts attack statistics

I would rather listen to Statler and Waldorf, because these two above don’t have a clue what they are talking about. pic.twitter.com/gzzXgJdpTQ

Not only do they Hate Celtic winning, they also hate them celebrating.
Not a word about how Martin O’neill’s tactical changes shot one dimensional Mcinnes to pieces.
If this had been Tynecastle and it was Hearts celebrating they would be cheering them on.

Absolutely pathetic. Every week from @robert_grieve It’s been Rangers and Hearts for the league, that’s all show has talked about and the bitterness is now showing. Funny thing is he wouldn’t dare say any of this to MONs face. Leckie just hates Celtic and their fans that’s a fact!

I remember well when MON first arrived in scotland to an establishment of corrupt crooks and cnuts , it didn’t take long for him to find his feet as he went about dismantling the norms that the huns took for granted , they didn’t know what hit them , an intelligent confident educated witty wiley articulate Irishman as good as anything they could encountered before , unwilling to take any shit from the scum and it’s actors , we have a lot to thank MON for and one of them is that he changed the landscape in scotland , he took on their best and they always came second gave us pride in knowing that we are and always will be better than the scum
An old latin saying ” nil desperandum ” roughly translated into Irisn meaning ” Don’t let the bastards ” get you down !!! ahem Thank you Martin O’ Neill Hail Hail
There is another Latin saying attributed to Brennus the Gaul – Vae Victis, which means Woe to the Conquered.
Sums it up perfectly for me.
I believe there was a hertz player injured and bloodied but apparently it happened at Swiney after he got pished and fell off a barrel in his acute distress and drunkenness.
NB No Fearts players were touched or physically assaulted at Celtic Park, although it now appears that giving someone the vickie or laughing at them constitutes an assault in Scotland.
And Nicholson still gives these Celtic hating hun bastards access to Celtic Park. After their disgraceful coverage this week ban the bastards and the rest of the laptop loyal from our ground for good. Also get the fan media guys who only have Celtic’s best interest at heart back into the press conferences.Get the finger out Nicholson.
