Almost six weeks on from winning the Scottish Cup Celtic have yet to make a single signing.
The first competitive match of the 26/27 season is a month away.
Between July 7 and 18 they will play three of their four pre-season friendlies. Almost certainly without any of the eight players involved at the World Cup Finals.
Alistair Johnston and Auston Trusty could still be involved at the World Cup when Celtic play Shelbourne on Tuesday.
Despite all of these factors there are virtually no signs of transfer activity inside Celtic. On June 11 Interim Chairman Brian Wilson mentioned a lot of activity in the coming weeks. Perhaps he was referring to his commitments with The Scotsman.
Celtic’s chronic issues over signing players isn’t new.
In the summer of 2024 there was a late burst of activity following the sale of Matt O’Riley. Arne Engels, Luke McCowan and Auston Trusty were signed. Earlier Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo were signed after the pre-season matches had been played.
January 2025 was the month that Kyogo Furuhashi was sold. No attempt was made to sign a replacement as the current rot set in.
1 already gone with maybe 2 more on the way out, world class basics

Identification of players to improve the team is virtually non-existent. Celtic also vastly over pay for players that aren’t good enough.
CHRONIC RECRUITMENT FAILURES AT CELTIC
Only Ben Nygren made a worthwhile contribution last season.
Those failures might partly explain the complete lack of transfer activity so far this summer.
That is backed up by the loan deals completed in January.
Julian Arouco impressed for two months then disappeared. Strikers Tomas Cvancara and Junior Adamu scored four goals. Less than Johnny Kenny who went out on loan.
Ben Arthur made a couple of appearances, generally he was fourth choice central defender.
The least said about Joel Mvuka the better. Fortunately a failed medical prevented Celtic from paying a £4m transfer fee with the same figure committed on a four or five year contract.
With all of that data it is hardly surprising that Celtic have yet to sign anyone this year.
Celtic have still to replace Paul Tisdale, the former Head of Football Operations left on January 5.
Celtic are now the only club in the Scottish Premiership yet to make any transfers this summer. https://t.co/rnTftVNYzt

Delay , f*ck about , lowball clubs for a few hundred grand etc , never ending links , silence
Frustrate the life out of the support
Rake in £25m + each for Engels and AJ plus good money for Maeda , Hatate etc
Replace them with punts never above £3m
Then a lot of fans are like ‘ Aye well at least they’re signing somebody , they might be good ‘
We’ve all seen this movie before.
There won’t be any signings until Maeda, Hatate, and possibly Nygren and Johnston are sold.
Our Board’s sole intention prior to any window opening is to make a profit regardless of the effect on the team.
This Board would rather pay tax than buy players.
This is the policy of Desmond and his malignant cabal of corporate greed and austerity fc, so if you put any cash into Celtic fc wether season tickets or merchandise, then shut up you have Desmond carte blanch to carry on in the malignant manner of a multi billionaire absentee landlord. Stop giving them your money or you are complicit in the destruction of our club
As I’ve said before, there’s something sinister about the fact players never really hang around long at Celtic nor do very many at all have anything positive to say about the club after they leave.
Compared to Sevco ex players who virtually to a man, regardless of where they are from, never have a bad word for the club after they move on, and that’s with all the shite that’s attached to them….we have to ask..why is that?
Is it the board that’s to blame?
Do they actually push all these guys out the door when they don’t wanna go?
Do they renege on deals & promises?
There’s definitely something going on when virtually every player leaves and never looks back.
I know my workplace can be a horrible place at times, and it absolutely affects moral.
Can’t see Celtic being any different with all the negativity there is around the suits.
The groundhog years.
What will Mol do about this terrible board
The zero signings seen me get mocked to an extent in a boozer last night…
I have not one fu**in ounce of ammunition to argue back with either sadly !
Well who can blame the board the fans keep buying st merchandise food etc so are happy to go along with this pathetic farce every season. If there was real ambition by the club it would be looking to buy really decent players there is no problem buyyiing project players but really the big money to earned is Europe not spl but our board is keep the old gang system bullshit the rangers rivalry going that our ambition fed up with it being a supporter for over 65 years dont buy or go anymore when I visit glasgow many times every year fans to blame for this mess they are the problem .
